Memorial Benches

Remembering Lives. Supporting a Living Landscape

Memorial benches are a beautiful way of creating a fitting tribute to a loved one, whilst contributing to a place of beauty, calm, and shared enjoyment for the wider community. Our Memorial Benches offer a thoughtful way to remember and celebrate the life of someone with a connection to Manvers Lake or the surrounding landscape - whilst helping to care for this special place for future generations.

Memorial benches, located at carefully chosen points around Manvers Lake provide a quiet space for remembrance, reflection, and connection with nature. Each bench becomes part of the area’s shared landscape, creating spaces that are both personal and publicly enjoyed. All memorial benches are installed and maintained in accordance with our policy to protect the character and tranquillity of the site.

Each memorial bench can include a discreet engraved plaque, allowing families, friends, or community groups to commemorate a loved one or mark a special connection to the area. Benches are designed to be durable, sympathetic to their setting, and appropriate for natural and heritage environments.

By choosing a memorial bench, you are directly supporting the Trust’s work to:

  • care for and enhance Manvers Lake,

  • protect local natural and industrial heritage,

  • and maintain welcoming, accessible green spaces for the community.

A contribution towards a memorial bench helps cover:

  • the purchase and installation of the bench,

  • ongoing maintenance and care.

The Trust works closely with applicants to ensure locations are suitable, sustainable, and respectful of the landscape and any necessary permissions.
